Make Aging a Journey, Not a Destination

On average, Canadians move into long-term care at age 83. With more elders than ever before and longer life expectancies, there’s a growing opportunity to make the most of the post-retirement years. Our goal is to help you or your loved one live well, stay active, and remain independent for as long as possible.

Services

At Carney Occupational Therapy, we help older adults age in place safely and independently with in-home and virtual services. We provide:

How it works

Assessment

We assess the physical, mental, and emotional state of the older adult to understand how they manage everyday tasks. We do this through:

After the assessment, we’ll share a short, clear summary of our observations and recommendations so everyone stays informed and on the same page.

Treatment

We’ll suggest tools, technology, and modifications to help you stay as independent as possible, while easing the load on paid help or family caregivers. If other services could help – like a personal support worker, physiotherapy, speech therapy, or local drop-in programs – we’ll point you in the right direction.”

We’ll stay in touch with you, your family, and anyone else involved in your care, so everyone works together. We can also look at how to make your home safer and connect you with trusted local contractors. Whether you need one-time advice or ongoing support, we’re here to guide you as your needs change.
