Karen Carney​, Occupational Therapist

My work in occupational therapy is rooted in a lifelong interest in people and support. That interest first took shape in high school, when I became a peer helper and saw how much impact connection and encouragement could have.

I went on to study gerontology, while working in long term care supporting residents with dementia. After completing my OT degree, I worked in trauma rehabilitation while balancing leadership roles, before fully returning to hands-on clinical care, where I feel most fulfilled.
Today, I’m passionate about helping older adults age in place with safety, confidence, and dignity. I focus on early intervention and use adaptive tools, strategies, and technology to match individual needs. By addressing challenges before they become barriers, I aim to prevent hospitalizations, reduce isolation, and support long-term independence at home.

I’m certified as a Senior Home Safety Specialist (Age Safe Canada), MoCA certified, and an ADP Authorizer—providing access to 75% government funding for primary mobility devices.

What draws me to this work is the opportunity to be part of someone’s journey, solving meaningful problems together, and finding creative, personalized solutions.

We listen closely, offer honest support, and create practical plans that fit each person’s life. Our goal is to lay the foundations that make everyday living easier, now, and in the future.
